The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently conducted small overlap front crash tests on twelve small cars. Of the twelve, six were able to earn “Good” or “Acceptable” ratings overall, which is good enough to earn the distinguished honor of “Top Safety Pick+”. Top Safety Pick+ honors are a coveted distinction, and are a step above a normal “Top Safety Pick” in safety. To earn the Top Pick+ a vehicle must rate “Good” in four of five categories, and “Average” or higher in the other.
A number of Toyota’s are Top Safety Picks, including the 4Runner, Avalon, Corolla, Highlander Prius, Prius C, Rav4, Sienna, Tundra, Venza and Yaris. The Scion FR-S, xB, and xD are also top safety picks.
